About

The Edwards Heights Historic District is located in northeastern Oklahoma city along the east and west sides of interstate 35 north from ne 16th street to ne success street and near the Edwards Historic District. Like the Edwards Historic District, Edwards Heights was developed by prominent local African Americans Walter and Frances Edwards. Edwards Heights includes 318 buildings, most constructed between 1946 and 1955 in response to changing housing segregations policies. In addition to residential properties, the district includes one church and several businesses. Most of the residences are small, built in a style known as minimal ranch and are clad in either brick or stone. The area was listed in the national register in 2005.
